There is a supplement to the book and Andy Wilson has a few notes on sound reinforcement and Wes Maluk contributes his thoughts on sound. Minimalist music refers to a specific scene of musicians in the 1960s up to the present day, who wrote music “minimally.” The term itself does not fairly describe the music. His fluid and energetic vocal style peaked with the double-album Clube Da Esquina (1972) and its cycle of sophisticated ballads, and lent itself naturally to jazz, as proven by Milagre Dos Peixes (1973), the ultimate manifestation of his soundpainting (percussion, piano, strings, guitar, falsetto vocals, jungle sounds), Minas (1975), Geraes (1976) and collaborations with Airto Moreira, Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter.

The Viennese waltz and the Polka had been the first dances to employ the close contact between a male and a female. The origins of lyrical dance are unclear. Dancing is easy, great exercise, and just plain fun for all ages. Native music has a long and colorful history in the Bahamas. An interesting blend of reggae, African, Caribbean and Colombian rhythms, champeta has a strong base in the colonial and port city of Cartagena. Neighbors would gather to dance at such parties. Heavy metal (exceptions notwithstanding, see: Vertigo Mixed (2005) - Andy Votel) comes to mind: the aesthetics feel wrong; and although the United Kingdom is my favourite music journalism country (they are the best trainspotters), I don't care much for their pop records nor certain recent trends in British dance music (acid jazz, drumm 'n bass, grime, ...).

If you are not a dancer yourself, it is strongly suggested that you collaborate with a dance instructor or even with a student who has studied jazz dance. The Bal Anat flavor of Tribal dance frequently consists of a series of folkloric steps borrowed from various cultural areas. The polka is just plain fun, so give it a try! In Buenos Aires and other parts of Argentina, tango is danced in a spectrum of individualistic or personal styles, and many tango dancers who are Argentine do not accept a categorization of their own dancing by any broad stylistic name.
