The man fashions little rubber boots for the chicken. I think she may have been deaf, but basically she has no experience with doing normal things. It was a scholastic book--probably from the mid seventies. I'm now a school teacher myself for my son that I am home schooling and would like very much to find the following books. Good luck Clyde Robert Bulla, The Moon Singer, 1968. One of my favorite books as a child was a somewhat short book (maybe a golden book?) that was about bees or bumble bees.

I'm unsure if that meant she died or not, which is why my 6th grade teacher tried to flunk me on a book report and told me he didn't think I had read it (I read it a zillion times!!) so what if I'm last in line? These engaging mysteries challenge the reader to try to figure out who did it. Some of those titles are: The Tale of Squirrel Nutkin, The Tale of Benjamin Bunny, The Tale of Mrs Tiggy Winkle. It made me want to learn fencing, though I never did. Possibly Donkey, Donkey by Roger Duvoisin (Grosset, 1940 and Parents Magazine Press, 1968.

Thank you, Mystery Up The Winding Stair was exactly what I was looking for. Okay, I sent a message about an hour ago, giving a few clues I also remembered about this book, then, while I was grocery shopping, the author came to me! I'm looking for a teen novel I would have read in the late 70s or early 80s. Follow TES on Twitter and like TES on Facebook I've been looking for a children's adventure series, possibly English, which I avidly read in the 1950s.

There were also stories that I can't remember the names too: A cobbler and little elves that come out at night and make shoes for him. Were students able to gather clues and solve the mysteries I read aloud? I believe she works in a barn, and that she is an exercise-rider and hired show-rider for expensive show ponies. The Green Cameo Mystery was reportedly plotted by Edna Stratemeyer Squier, and written by Mildred Wirt Benson. Finn Family Moomintroll, Moominsummer Madness, etc.

Tubby from Little Lulu occasionally acted as one, whenever Lulu needed his help with a problem at her house. Fishing Mysteries (State Library of Tasmania): Author, title, summary for 7 mysteries. I remember this book as being brown, black and white -- don't remember any green, but definitely no bright colors. I do remember something about a whipping mane as they travel, because she has to get goggles to keep the mane out of her eyes.

I've got a copy, and I've read it recently...the poster's plot points match perfectly. I have looked continuously for the past two years for this book and have bought 32 various books, believing that each was the correct one, only to find out that they were not. Rich with action, the character development does not suffer. PLEASE help me remember this book. I am very interested in purchasing it to read again. Ivy is an orphan, Holly is a doll. The latter part of the novel is taken up with the 1825 Decembrist Revolution (a group of officers who rebelled against the Tsar and demanded reforms.) There was also a sequel, with the fates of the characters taken up a few years later. Soon many others are swayed to Nathan's defense as he calls a radio talk show and tells his side.
