One particularly vivid memory is that she went to school and won a prize for knowing the capitals of all the US states, but when it came to prize-night the girl who came second actually got the prize, because an orphan wasn't allowed to win. The other thing I remember is that the aunt holds a dinner party in which she has something like duck and wild rice and cherries jubilee and the little girl would much prefer chicken and tame rice.

And I love that in case a reader didn't go in aware of the fact, that the authors make it clear in a few way that this is in the same universe as Sandman, the most obvious being this: Edwin: What if Death had come? C. on a field trip, Egg Garrison and his friends solve a haunting mystery. Sherlock Holmes, a creation by Arthur Conan Doyle, remains the archetypal detective who solves mysteries by logical reasoning.

He runs away from his sister's wedding but soldiers eventually catch him, bathe him, and take him to the wedding. The pencil illustrations are fun, but why do some of the animal characters wear clothes while others don’t? Forest animals keep hoping for a white christmas. Jasper's Garden' but I can't find that title listed anywhere. Any other suggestions....? my brother thinks he remembers the house being lifted by a crane, and the house hanging in air, watching as the levels of the skyscraper are constructed.

Consider it solved :-) I read this children�s book in the 1950s. Kim, after graduating from high school, gets a job in the personnel office of a china company. I think the more troubled girls stay in a dorm called The Angels. anybody know what this book is? thanks. Mine has 253 pages (if you count all the indexes), a board cover and many black and white illustrations. The best I can remember it is that there was a robber/thief and we the reader may have been the detective.

It was a mystery/suspense paperback. The front of the book had the main characters looking into the depths of a small pond. More on the Solved Mysteries page. book title I believe is simply ''Adam" publication date about 30 years ago- Adam is a magician possessing real magic -meets up with stage magicians who cannot figure out his "gimmicks ". I am looking for a book that I read over and over in my teens in the early 70's. One of the girls is looking for information about an ancestor's relative (like great-grandfather's brother) who used to live in the area as a child.
