Probably woulda been fine recipe even exactly as is. Then a few weeks later when he was actually excited about Friday Night Cauli ‘Pizza’ and we were both eyeing off the last slice. I am a huge fan of demi-glace for preparing classic sauces like mushroom or peppercorn sauce but I have to warn you, it is a huge process to make classic demi glace at home.

Cut the potatoes in half and lay cut side up on the baking sheet. For more than one potato, microwave as follows: two potatoes for 8 minutes, three potatoes for 10 minutes, 4 potatoes for 12 minutes. The sweet potatoes grown in Jamaica are not orange, but red-skinned and white or yellowish inside. Arrowroot flour has approximately 50% more thickening power than flour. I looked at that paring knife as if it were about to bring about the end of my life, but considering how ineffective I was with it and how many potatoes I had to peel – that wasn’t really a stretch. Not just friends that you write to on facebook and blogs, but friends that you wish you could hang out with if they lived closer. Corn meal or flour will not form gluten so products made from them have a more coarse, dense texture than products made from some of the other flours.

One of my fave ways to prepare eggplant is this super simple ratatouille. If you scorch something in the tagine and can't scrape the burnt residue from the bottom, try this method: Fill the tagine 1/3 full with water and place over a medium-low heat; add a tablespoon or two of baking soda and bring to a simmer. Curabitur ultrices, diam non ullamcorper blandit, nunc lacus ornare nisi, egestas rutrum magna est id nunc. The bottom line is, you can now have healthier versions of the comfort foods you crave that will not necessarily negatively impact your health.

This week I have something a little different for you! With just five minutes of hands-on time, these garlicky mashed potatoes may just be the easiest you’ve ever made. When substituting for sugar and flour, consider the differences in sweetening and thickening power. Maybe it's just because I haven't purchased pasta in so long that I'm only noticing this now. Broth from a can works beautifully for this recipe, although I am using strained stock from a just-cooked beef pot roast. (Waste not, want not!) The excess fat needs to first get skimmed off the top.
